Day 2 and 3
The trip to Monroe Middle School last Wednesday was very informative. Aside from seeing a different part of Omaha, I was able to see how a middle school in US looks like. I was able to see how language teachers appreciate having a website that they can use as a resource center for their lessons. It's also nice to hear them ask questions on how SCOLA can help them improve their lessons. And oh... I appreciate Leslie so much for being a very good speaker and a tour guide too
. Having a trip to Bryan's office in the afternoon was just very informative and it has introduced me to another world of Macintosh stuff. Dave's programming lecture was just amazing because it opened my eyes on how important copyrights are in this part of the world because it is not so in my country. It also gave a time to reflect on how I can contribute to SCOLA's cause of coming up with more materials to put into the website for others to use. All of these new things really inspired me to just do something for others too. It was also uplifting to meet the founder later that night. I was amazed at how sharp the mind of Fr. Lee is. Also, it is nice to learn how different parties are held here compared to my home.
Yesterday was a very fruitful day
. I really enjoyed the hands-on part from Joe's office down to Leslie's office. I get to know how things are done in all of the services that SCOLA offer. Also, as an IT person, it was just amazing that in this organization, you have a taste of 3 operating systems which the world uses and that is awesome for me who constantly use the Windows OS all the time. Video editing and editing clips were just awesome
. With all of these, I'm so excited to just share those knowledge later with my friends when I get home. The Insta-class was very informative. It gave me an inspiration to continue with what I am dreaming of -- to come up with a module based class on the web for my students to get resources from. It was nice to see the SUN up this day.
All in all....the days were just great!
